Please read the information on this page carefully to understand the requirements for the Dan Promotion Examination and then register using the form at the bottom of this page.

Registration

Doors open: 8:30am
Registration: 9:30am

“NOTE: times are subject to change depending on the the number of applicants. If numbers are high, the 1st Dan candidates will grade in the morning and higher grades in the afternoon. You will be notified closer to the date."

You must be recommended by an instructor (6th Dan or above)

2nd Dan/Poom: £185
3rd Dan/Poom: £215
4th Dan/Poom: £310
5th Dan: £410

2. Register on TCON

BEFORE completing this form, you will need to register on the Kukkiwon TCON site in Korea. The TCON ID is required by British Taekwondo when they apply for your Kukkiwon Certificate. Please contact your instructor if you require assistance with TCON.

Create an account if you don’t have one
Use lowercase letters and numbers only for your ID

3. Email Required Information

Snapshot of your TCON ID page. This information can be found under the 'My Information' and 'Certification' sections of TCON. The snapshot must include:
- Date of birth
- Current grade
- Nationality
- Dan/Poom number if currently a black belt
Insurance certificate (must be valid)
Grading certificate that you received on the day of your last grading (current black belts)

4. Additional Information to be sent (If Applicable)

Medical conditions/disabilities (note from instructor/coach)
Proof of name change
Proof of UK residency (for foreign nationals – 6+ months)

Short-Term Injuries

Candidates are advised to wait until fully recovered before grading

Long-Term Conditions

Submit a note from your instructor/coach explaining:
- The condition
- How you manage it in training
The panel will consider this for a fair assessment

General Rules

❌ No video or photography
❌ No parents/family in the examination room
✅ Only one instructor per club per candidate group allowed

Instructor Dress Code

Sportswear (e.g., tracksuit) or suit & tie
❌ No shorts
